This is what its all about! Welcome to the Float Trip section of our webpage. Since our beginning in 2002, Andy’s on River Road has become the premier river outfitter in Concan. If you want the best, most up to date information about floating the Frio River, take a look at the information below. If you still have questions, give us a call at 830-232-5444 and we will be happy to help you out. River trips are what we do, and nobody does it better!
We try our hardest to keep our Accommodation rates low so therefore if you are staying at Andy's we have not included tube, kayak, and shuttle rentals with our nightly rental fee. We do however have our outfitting on the property should you need to rent anything we are just a few seconds away!
All of our tubes are $7/day with the exception of the hard bottom rubber tube that is $10/day. These prices are with tax included and that makes us the BEST DEAL IN TOWN! With as many as 7 different styles of tube to choose from, you’re bound to find one that fits like a glove. Traditional rubber tubes with or without bottoms for those of you who are firm believers in the tried and true, and newer styles of heavy duty PVC tubes with many different options, including headrests, make up our fleet.
We have an assortment of 30+ sit on top kayaks in operation. The kayaks are simple to use and a lot of fun. The price for our single person kayak is $25/24hrs, and $50/24hrs for our tandem kayaks that will accommodate 2 adults and a smaller child.
Our Shuttle services begin taking people at 10 AM and stop at 4 PM. We continue to pick people up until 8pm. $5/person six and up.
Andy’s has been a shuttle provider since 2003. We work to make this process as easy as possible. On busy days such as weekends and holidays we have two shuttle buses taking people and picking people up at all three of the crossings located here in Concan. We offer FREE parking to those who use our shuttle. Just park and ride. On days where we aren’t so busy we allow you to follow us in your vehicle to the end of your float trip and park. This way you can have a vehicle present once you are finished with your float and from there can bring back your tubes/kayaks. If you are unable to bring them back in your vehicle, you may do one of two things: Call 830-232-5444 and let us know you are done and are ready for us to come pick up your tubes; Or leave someone with your tubes/kayaks and have someone drive up to the store to let us know you are done. Float trip times vary depending on flow of river. Call the store close to your visit here and we will be able to give you a more accurate time frame for each float.
To make the checkout process faster please have a credit card handy. We make an imprint of your credit card to hold as a deposit and will return the copy to you once you’ve checked in your tubes or kayaks. If you do not have a credit card we will take cash deposits. $35/tube rental and $400/ kayak rental. Credit card slips are obviously recommended. =)
Things to Consider
Like all natural flowing rivers, this river flows in ONE direction NOT in a circle. We require rain to fill up and make the float more enjoyable. However, if you know the Frio we have been known to have some slow floating summers, but hey… beats the heck outta the city! Below we have our precipitation chart for this area if you would like to see how the river is currently flowing.
The banks of the Frio are private property. The river is available for everyone to swim/float up and down as far as you like. The only public entrances or exits are the public road crossings. Never get out on the banks of the Frio except in cases of emergency.
Here are a few things you may consider while floating the Frio - by Emily Beard:
Be sure to wear good water shoes that will not fall off. The Frio River has a rock bottom and you may need to stand up along your float.
We carry water shoes at our store.
Sunscreen, you will need to reapply throughout your tubing trip. Getting sunburned is no fun.
Sunglasses and Headwear. Be sure they are attached to something so they do not sink to the bottom.
Water. Even though beer taste so much better you will need it to keep hydrated.
Electronic devices such as cell phones and Digital Cameras are NOT ADVISED.
Waterproof cameras are perfect, just make sure you attach them to something.
Do NOT take your car keys or room keys on the river. If you use our shuttle service you may leave your keys with us in the store.
Trash bags. We provide yellow mesh bags at the store to dispose of your trash while floating. We love clean rivers!!
No Glass or Styrofoam on the Frio River.
No jewelry or valuables. Men… this means you too!
o The Frio River is a family river. Please respect your fellow tubers and be kind.
